{"id":1307,"date":"2017-11-14T08:27:52","date_gmt":"2017-11-14T08:27:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pwofc.com\/ofc\/?p=1307"},"modified":"2017-11-14T08:31:51","modified_gmt":"2017-11-14T08:31:51","slug":"the-verdict","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pwofc.com\/ofc\/2017\/11\/14\/the-verdict\/","title":{"rendered":"The Verdict"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back in April, I asked 6 friends to pass rapid judgement on my latest attempt to define the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pwofc.com\/ofc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/6.-Roundsheet-Spec-Streamined-Version-v1.0-20Apr2017.docx\">Roundsheet application<\/a>.\u00a0 I asked them to give the document a quick scan and to provide answers to the questions below with either Yes or No, and to feel free to add comments or suggestions if they wished.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Were you able to understand what was being described?<\/li>\n<li>Do the Roundsheet concepts make sense to you?<\/li>\n<li>Do you think a Roundsheet application would give users something they haven&#8217;t got already?<\/li>\n<li>Is it worth pursuing this idea any further?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>I received 5 replies. Not everyone was able to answer either Yes or No to each question \u2013 some answers were \u2018partly\u2019 or \u2018sort of\u2019 or \u2018don\u2019t know\u2019 or \u2018possibly\u2019; so, I\u2019m going to classify all such in-between kind of responses as \u2018not sure\u2019. I think you would have difficulty\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cstill wondering why the roundsheet format is any better than the tabular format which apparently could be used instead?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cmay be of interest to those who get frustrated by the complexities of linking Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint applications &#8211; I have come across a few of those in my career!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel there is a core there that could be extremely useful\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, overall, there\u2019s no overwhelming consensus that this is a winning idea, and it\u2019s probably unlikely that time spent trying to promote its development into a product would be rewarded; so I think this is the time to put this journey to bed. I have enjoyed the intellectual challenge it has given me; and have the satisfaction of knowing that I took the ideas as far as I could and finished the job.
